Typescript drafts of The Copper Crucible (1963 draft, and 1994 drafts revised by Ian Syson); newspaper cuttings and copies of Women's Realm containing articles and stories by Betty Collins; 2 poems (typescript) by Betty Collins. The Copper Crucible was originally published in 1966. Not all of the 1963 draft for the novel was used in this publication. In 1996, a new edition revised by Ian Syson was published. This new edition restores the 1963 draft, and also incorporates some passages from the 1966 version.

In addition to reviewing chapters, sections and drafts of the book, Xavier discusses the writing process, comments on Australian society, Australian literature and various other topics extraneous to the reviewing of the book. Sadie comments in background. Xavier often asks for Sadie's input.

Accompanied by twenty black and white 35 mm negatives (on five strips), a handwritten note and the packet that held the prints which has a handwritten note "Xavier Herbert: room in Wooloomooloo Sydney, where he began writing".
