54 black and white photographs of late 19th and early 20th century Brisbane. Includes many photographs of Brisbane 1893 flood. Some photographs have been reproduced in publications such as 'Brisbane past and present', or appear to be duplicates of photographs held elsewhere.

The letter was originally with the author's presentation copy of his book entitled 'Freedom and independence for the golden lands of Australia' to Rev. A.C. Geikie.
In the letter the author explains his feelings on the question of the colonies, and requests opinion on his work etc.

Tells of a South Sea islander serving as crew in a sailing ship.

Approximately 900 photographs, mostly black and white, some sepia. Photographs mostly relating to Queensland people and places, but including interstate and overseas photographs. Includes photographs of Australian authors, the 1893 Brisbane floods, and Mornington Island (Queensland). There are also a number of photographs of Papua New Guinea which were originally in the Beazley collection (UQFL271). Other photographs of Queensland people and places can be found in UQFL479.

Letter responds to controversy re naming of Reid River, and circumstances of discovery of the site of Townsville. Identity of addressee unknown. Envelope included. Holograph, on blue notepaper (damaged).
