Brisbane City Council. Department of Planning and Building.

James Birrell was the Architect in Charge of the Architectural Branch in the Brisbane City Council from 1955 to 1961. His work with the council includes the multi-storey car park at 136 Wickham Terrace in Brisbane (added to Queensland Heritage Register on 13 Jan 1955 as the Brisbane City Council Carpark), the former Toowong Library (added to Queensland Heritage Register on 28 Aug 1988) and the Centenary Pool Complex at Spring Hill (added to Queensland Heritage Register on 5 Nov 1996).

John Kershaw was the architect for the Queensland Teachers Building on Boundary Street, Spring Hill. The Queensland Teachers Union moved into the building in 1974. It consists of a basement, ground floor and 7 floors above.

James Peter Birrell : a catalogue of the council work, 1955-61

Bound volume detailing the bulk of the works of James Peter Birrell while he worked for the Brisbane City Council from 1955 to 1961. Mackee conducted this research with a grant by the University of Queensland's Department of Architecture Vacation Scholarship, with additional assistance by Peter Powell of the Brisbane City Council's Architecture Branch and Don Watson from UQ Department of Architecture. Not all buildings Birrell was associated with during his tenure at the Brisbane City Council are in this work. Each building (new or an addition) includes details of the client, the architect, builder, and construction material. References for this information are also detailed. There are 296 black and white images have been pasted in including: architectural plans from the BCC; models, construction photographs, and completed building. Not all buildings have images.

Correspondence, specifications, photographs, architectural drawings. Jack (known as Henry) and Sylvia (née Goldman) Eshensky contracted with architect Vitaly Gzell to design and construct several residences in Brisbane. Gzell worked with many members of the extended Goldman family; plans for properties owned by Ellis and Adele Goldman, and Cyril and Sylvia Quintner, are held in UQFL227 Vitaly Gzell Papers.
