2 scrapbooks of newspaper cuttings collected by David Laws, relating to the Chapman gold expedition. Led by Charles Henry Chapman, of the Chapman Wills Boring Company of Roma, the expedition left Brisbane on 14 July 1932 in search of gold in the Northern Territory. Gold in payable quantities was found at The Granites, approximately 600km north-west of Alice Springs by the expedition.

Accompanied by note stating that the unfinished manuscript was intended to "expand the summary of the history of the Order of Saint John" (see Fryer manuscript F3276); advisory editor Sue Pavasaris's explanatory "Notes to manuscript" dated 18.7.89; and four hand drawn maps. Includes bibliographical references.
