The Queensland Architectural Archive was established to collect Queensland architectural records of individual and non-government architects and architectural firms. It was initiated with a grant in 1986, from the Design Board of the Australia Council (for the Arts). The project built on the architectural collections already held in the Fryer Library - Karl Langer and A.B. and R. M. Wilson. An exhibition held in the Civic Art Gallery and Museum at the Brisbane City Hall, called Well made plans drew from over 100 drawings from the Fryer Library's Queensland Architectural Archive. Essentially the Queensland Architectural Archive, from the earliest period has been a collaboration between the Fryer Library and the Architecture Department/School.
