Minns, and E. Bevan.

Bound volume detailing the bulk of the works of James Peter Birrell while he worked for the Brisbane City Council from 1955 to 1961. Mackee conducted this research with a grant by the University of Queensland's Department of Architecture Vacation Scholarship, with additional assitance by Peter Powell of the Brisbane City Council's Architecture Branch and Don Watson from UQ Department of Architecutre. Not all buildings Birrell was associated with during his tenure at the Brisbane City Council are in this work. Each buiding (new or an addition) includes details of the client, the architect, builder, and construction material. References for this information are also detailed. There are 296 black and white images have been pasted in including: architectural plans from the BCC; models, construction photographs, and completed building. Not all buildings have images.

The personal papers of Gertrude Langer (1908 – 1984) include diaries, correspondence, photographs, manuscripts and typescripts, notebooks and ephemera, including exhibition catalogues. The papers cover the period 1917 – 1984 including correspondence received between 1918 and 1984. The material from before 1938 includes papers relating to her Art History studies in Vienna and Paris as well as photographs taken during her travels in Europe. From 1929 onwards the papers include correspondence to and from her future husband Karl Langer (married in 1932), as well as photographs of their travels together. Correspondence and records from 1938 and early 1939 document the Langers’ escape from German-annexed Austria. Material after 1939 documents Gertrude Langer’s activities as a private art history educator and as an art critic in Brisbane. This material includes her lecture notes, lists of students attending the classes, printed ephemera, manuscripts and typescripts of her art reviews for the Courier Mail newspaper, as well as annotated exhibition catalogues. The papers also contain Arts Council of Australia and Queensland Art Gallery Society records, as well as material created by her husband Karl Langer. This includes correspondence received by him between 1922 and 1969, staff cards from his architectural firm (1950s), ephemera as well as sketch plans and architectural drawings for the Langers’ residence in St Lucia (1950).

Two volumes compiled by Pamela Rusner in 1992, containing photographs and biographical information relating to the Hewson family from 1737 to the 1900s. There are 14 black and white photographs in the first volume and 25 photographs in the second volume (some of which are reprints). Some photographs taken in Ireland, before the family's departure for Australia in about 1884. Most taken in Brisbane and other parts of Queensland, in late nineteenth century and early twentieth century.

There are draft typescripts and related documents for Opera Libretti by David Malouf (both published and unpublished): Voss : Opera in Two Acts After the Novel by Patrick White, Invocation to Earth, Remembering Babylon, 'The Aspern Papers', 'You can't think of everything', 'A Winter's Tale', The Fox and the Magpie. In addition there are two versions of 10,000 Miles Away, written by David Malouf for theatre.
