Vote 'yes' for Aborigines

Typescript leaflet appealing for a 'yes' vote on 27 May 1967 as part of the Referendum to amend the Constitution to remove references within the Constitution that discriminate against Aboriginal peoples. Provides information on some of the proposed amendments, such as the inclusion of Aboriginal peoples in the census and the ability for the federal government to create and enact laws for Aboriginal peoples. Front page features a black and white print of a photograph of a pair of children, possibly Aboriginal. Verso features another print of a group of girls, possibly Aboriginal. A statement at the foot of the verso states the leaflet was "authorised by Mrs. Kath Walker, Qld. Secretary, Federal Council for Advancement of Aborigines and Torres Strait Islanders (FCAA) and Secretary, Qld. Council for the Advancement of Aborigines and Torres Islanders (QCAATI)".

Album containing 83 black and white, sepia-toned and coloured photographs and prints, including chromolithograph and Photocrom prints, of various sizes mounted on boards. The album belonged to the Mayne family. Some photographs have printed captions and/or studio imprints. Studios represented include Francis Ellis & W. Hayward (London), Detroit Photographic Company, and G. Brogi. None of the photographs or prints are dated. Some boards are blank.

The photographs feature: European scenery, mostly in France; reproductions of artworks, including The Blind Beggar by Josephus Laurentius Dyckmans, The Maid and the Magpie by Samuel Cousins (after Edward Landseer), Venus de Milo, Circe And Her Swine by Briton Rivière, The Valley of the Llugwy by Benjamin Williams Leader, A Woman and a Fish-pedlar in a Kitchen by Willem van Mieris, The Broken Pitcher by Jean-Baptiste Greuze, The Girl at the Gate by Sir George Clausen, Dignity and Impudence by Sir Edwin Landseer, The Return of Judith with the Head of Holophernes by Sandro Botticelli, and Fortitude, also by Sandro Boticelli; portraits of Native Americans, including Ute Chief Severo and his family; views of Manhattan, New York City, some by William Henry Jackson; and views of North Queensland, including Barron Falls, Fig Tree, Herberton, and the Hanging Rock at Chillagoe. Also includes one photograph of an unidentified Australian homestead, possibly in Queensland, depicting Aboriginal Australian and non-Aboriginal individuals, along with an emu, on the verandah.

A paper about the Chinese free settlers in the Bismarck Archipelago, Papua New Guinea, during the period of German Administration (1884 to 1914). The title page states 'Port Moresby, 18 July 1973.' This copy is bound by The University of Queensland Library. It is 49 leaves of typescript pages. It includes four tables and a 2-page bibliography. The paper is a sequel to the author's paper titled 'Chinese Coolies in Kaiser Wilhelmsland' which was presented at a seminar on 30 May 1973. 'Chinese free settlers in the Bismarck Archipelago' concludes the examination started in 'Chinese Coolies in Kaiser Wilhelmsland.'

A poem titled 'Digger'. Forty stanzas over 6 typescript leaves. The header of the first leaf states 'First reunion of the 8th Australian Field Ambulance, Abbeville France, 1918'. The poem appears to relate to the experiences of the 8th Australian Field Ambulance soldiers after learning about the Armistice of 11 November 1918 while based in Abbeville, France. The poem was originally folded into an envelope. The front of the envelope states the title of the poem and 'Do not read this now -- but take it home with you and keep it as a souvenir. It is a clever piece of work by our old friend, Paddy ("Staff") Hughes' in typescript. There is a handwritten annotation on the front of the envelope stating 'each man received this on entering the room'.

Final report of the 1931 Walter and Eliza Hall Engineering Fellow to the Senate

The final report submitted to the University of Queensland Senate by the holder of the Walter and Eliza Hall Engineering Fellowship for the period of 1931-1934 (in accordance with the terms of the fellowship). Page one states Brisbane, July 26 1934. It comprises 53 leaves of bound typescript pages. The report includes an introduction and four appendices. Appendix 1 comprises four half-yearly progress reports written from Japan in 1931, the United State of America in 1932 and the United Kingdom in 1933. Appendix 2 is a summarised version of the report 'Transport by rail and road'. Appendix 3 is a summarised version of the report 'Soil sciences as applied in highway engineering'. Appendix 4 is a summarised version of the report 'The design and control of concrete mixes'.

Two volumes in two handwritten notebooks titled 'Theft & musings' relating to topics such as spirituality, philosophy, astrology, life and the afterlife. Volume 1 is a poem of ninety-six stanzas in three parts written in ink. It is comprised of thirty-six paginated pages with a 2 cm border of blue flowers on each page. Includes three hand drawn flowers in the art nouveau style approximately 6 cm x 8 cm. The first two pages of the notebook contain a table of contents and a title page. Part 1 of the poem is titled 'To Omar' and contains thirty-six stanzas over ten pages. It includes two 12 cm x 9 cm watercolour paintings. Part 2 of the poem is titled 'The one true light'. It contains two title pages and twenty-four numbered stanzas over six pages. Part 3 of the poem is titled 'Omar's philosophy briefed from Fitzgerald'. It contains two title pages and thirty-six numbered stanzas over nine pages. It includes three 12 cm x 9 cm watercolour paintings.

Volume 2 is comprised of notes written in ink and pencil about topics such as spirituality, philosophy, astrology, life and the afterlife. It is sixty-eight paginated pages with a 2 cm border of blue flowers on each page. The front paste endpaper contains the author's book plate stating 'Percy F. Hockings, his book. O had I my wish, I'd own in good company, a cot with a den in quiet simplicity.' The front free endpaper contains a University of Queensland book plate stating 'A.J. Hockings - J.T. Tilbury memorial collection. Presented to the University of Queensland Library by the descendants of Albert John Hockings and James Thompson Tilbury, 1966'. The first two pages of the notebook are title pages. Page two reads 'A scheme of things found upon, new and old wisdom, an attempted digest of the phases of philosophical thought. Chewed out from 1905 to 1909 and plotted in 1911 & 12'. Some pages are titled but most are not. Includes eight hand-drawn diagrams. A hand-drawn astrological chart is adhered to the last page of the notebook.

Two copies of 61 typescript leaves, bound by The University of Queensland Library. One copy contains the original typescript (identified as 'Copy A'), the other contains a copy of the original (identified as 'Copy B'). They are comprised of copies of letters, newspaper articles and reports complied by Thomas Welsby relating to the 1856 Spanish shipwreck on Facing Island, Queensland. The letters, newspaper articles and reports date from 1901 to 1914. They originate from the Department of Lands (Sydney), The Sydney Morning Herald, the Australian Historical Society and other private individuals.

This bound volume is a is a personal record of Corporal Gallwey’s experiences as a soldier in World War I from 1916 to The Armistice of 11 November 1918. It consists of a title page, and index, 1243 paginated pages over 12 chapters and 5 pages of correspondence as appendices. This volume appears to start after the first volume of 'When nations quarrel'. It starts at page 1340, chapter 22 and ends at page 2583, chapter 33. The appendices contain eleven letters from the Australian War Memorial and the Minister for Home and Territories to Corporal Gallwey regarding the donation of his memoirs to the Australian War Memorial. The appendices also contain two letters from the Australian War Memorial to Corporal Gallwey's mother regarding the donation of the letters she sent her son during World War I to the Australian War Memorial. These letters are dated from July 1927 to February 1930. These letters and the topics of the memoir suggest that it was written between 1917 and 1930. The front paste endpaper contains a University of Queensland book plate stating, 'Presented to the Fryer Memorial Library of Australian Literature by Mrs W.D. Gallwey, Hawken Drive, St Lucia, June 1975. Listed below are the contents of the chapters of this volume:
