Karl Langer's parallel rolling ruler in timber box. Inscribed on the rule is: Flavelle Bros. & Roberts, Sydney & Brisbane. Possibly made between 1868 and 1891. The brass ruler features two rollers set into top and penetrating to underneath, double-edged rule, and a handle at either end. On the bottom of the lid "S.1" has been carved into the timber.

Interview transcripts for study of agricultural properties in the Condamine - Maranoa basin

Interview transcripts used in the study of agricultural properties in six shires of the Condamine-Maranoa basin in Southern Queensland. Transcripts mostly have the name of the property owner, the property name, the date of the interview, the soil type and who the interviewer was. Interviews could include: a description of the property, management, grazing crops, machinery, stock, labour. Interviewers were E.J. Weston, C.N. Nason and R.D.H. Armstrong. The results were published by the Queensland Department of Primary Industries in 1975. Property names include: Barabool, Boongalla, Southwood, Moonie, Tarcoola, Cobbareena, Blackdown, Woodlands, Booroondoo, Barrapool, Wongabel, Merino Downs, Coonardoo, Alvalea, Aurifer Downs, Wongabel, Ventura, Collingwood, Rockdale, Gambier Park, Cambridge Downs, Brucedale, Arubial, Erinvale / Erin vale, Enarra, Rippon Lea, Burradoo, Miamba, Retreat, Canmaroo, Naturi, Berwick, Newstead, Rolston, Banoona, Tinowon, Yulebar, Dugan, Erindale, and Binnowee.

Handwritten letter from David Malouf answering three questions that Yvonne Smith had asked: how did An Imaginary Life first come to be published; how were Fly Away Peter and Child's Play published; and in writing Johnno ( what was the possible influence of Peter Paul Ruben's painting The Return of the Peasants from the Fields. As the questions were not included in Malouf's response, Smith has provided a transcript of the handwritten letter with the questions included. Typed transcript of the Diary of David Malouf written while writing Child's Play, Fly Away Peter, and short stories in January / February 1981. The handwritten version of this transcript was shared with Malouf over lunch and he shared information about the content which Smith has included as footnotes.

Fictional story about Aboriginal Australians set in North Queensland. Two copies are carbon copy typescript and one is original typescript. Six black and white photographic prints pasted throughout the story. Four leaves of glossary at the end with fictionalised Australian language terms.

A personal history of an Aboriginal Australian tribe referred to as 'the Blucher tribe' located in the Darling Downs region. Includes an overview of their culture and customs. Two copies are typescripts bound by the Library. One is an original typescript with stiff paper wrappers and some handwritten annotations. One is a roneoed copy. The first of the two bound typescripts has an inscription on the title page near the hinge that reads '1.11.1934 345 1st copy typed in University Office'. The second of the two typescripts has an inscription on the title page near the hinge that reads '345 1.11.1934 duplic[ate] for FWR [Frederick Walter Robinson] 2/6'. The third original typescript copy in stiff paper wrappers, 41 leaves, has a bookplate pasted inside the front wrapper that states it 'belonged to Frederick Walter Robinson'. The fourth copy, 29 pages, looks to be a roneoed typescript that came from the Hayes collection.
