Child's Play [Novella] (1981)

Child’s Play is an account of the experiences of an Italian terrorist and his special interest in his victim. It was first published in 1981 with another novella, The Bread of Time to Come (later changed to Fly Away Peter). It was republished in 1982 with two short stories, Eustace and The Prowler. This subseries includes manuscript drafts for original first draft, first typescript draft, and second typescript draft. All the drafts have explanatory notes by David Malouf.

'Contacts' [novel] (1964-1965) (unpublished)

Two complete drafts, each 170 leaves, typescript and carbon typescript, in burgundy cardboard covers, Apr 1964 to May 1965. An extract from this unpublished novel 'Contacts' was published in Under Twenty-five: An Anthology, edited by Anne O'Donovan, Jayne Sanderson and Shane Porteous. Brisbane: Jacaranda Press, 1966. 34-36. The extract is a heavily edited version of leaves 99-117 of the drafts in this subseries. Newspaper cuttings of reviews of this extract are also in this subseries.

Correspondence - Frederick William Scott Martin.

Letters written to family by Frederick (Fred) William Scott Martin while Martin was serving with the Australian Imperial Force in Australia, Egypt, Gallipoli, the United Kingdom and finally the Western Front from 1915 to 1917. Martin was Anne McCosker's uncle. The letters were published by McCosker in Lieutenant Martin's Letters (2013).
