Black Land Rights

Fundraising flyer for a Black Land Rights Conference to be held in Cairns in November [1972]. The fundraiser provides a programme of films to be shown on campus (University of Queensland) in the Relaxation Block from 20 October to 23 October. Undated. Black Rights Committee may have produced the flyer and organised the fundraiser.

Compiled by Patricia L. Ryan. Photocopy. Some are typescript, some are handwritten accounts. In 1995 Pat Ryan arranged a reunion of the 1945 Physio gradates on the occasion of the 50th anniversary of graduation from the University of Queensland. She encourage others to continue the tradition of the reunions and to make a record of the occassion. This is collection of stores for the 1995, 1996, 1997, 1998 and 2000 reunions.

It includes: two articles by Patricia L. Ryan: "Memories of being a Physio student in World War Two" and " Reminiscences of Sister Kenny and her treatment of poliomyelitis"; and biographies, photocopies of photographs and newspaper cuttings, programmes, copies of the A.P.A. newsletter "On hand".

Includes a photocopy of a 14 August 1997 article from The Canberra Times titled '$64b committed for minerals, in spite of Wik'.

Trifold brochure, black and red type on yellow paper, created to be a 'guide for all Queenslanders interested in the rights of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islanders' and issued for 'National Aborigines Week (6-12 July 1981)'. Provides information on legislative changes required to bring justice to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples; has a particular focus on land rights. Includes an illustrated map of Queensland and its reserves, from Cherbourg up to Bamaga, as well as an excerpt from the 1938 pamphlet Aborigines claim citizen rights!: a statement of the case for the Aborigines Progressive Association by J.T. Patten (John [Jack] Patten) and W. Ferguson (William [Bill] Patten).

Provides information on why Aboriginal peoples are protesting the 1982 Brisbane Commonwealth Games and what Australians or visitors to Australia can do to support Aboriginal peoples.

Communication to heads of overseas governments.

A copy of a typescript submission to international heads of governments of countries in Asia, North America, Oceania, Africa and Europe detailing the Australian Government's treatment of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples. It alleges a conspiracy between the Queensland and Federal governments to avoid taking action in the advancement of Aboriginal affairs and neglect the rights, particularly Land Rights, of Indigenous Peoples. Unsigned but addressed from Robert Weatherall, Mick Miller, Eric Kyle and Lyle Johnson on behalf of FAIRA.
