Research notes relating to Brisbane literary societies and writers in the 1880s and 1890s. The majority of the collection consists of photocopies of 19th century newspaper articles and other publications that relate to a particular society or person. Some correspondence, notes and drafts of material written as part of the author's PhD dissertation 'Civilising the city : literary societies and clubs in Brisbane during the 1880s and 1890s' (Griffith University, 2005) are included throughout.

Lantern slides, 35mm slides, negatives, glass plate negatives, and indexes to slides. Also one box of 5 unexposed AGFA-Gevaert brand negatives. Wooden cabinet originally used to house lantern slides retained separately.

A combination of original and published sets of slides. Initially glass lantern slides, later additions were acquired in 35mm slide format with some lantern slides then reformatted. The collection also appears to include some slides obtained from other Departments.

In 1950, the St Lucia campus Parnell Building lecture theatres were designed specifically without windows to facilitate the use of slide projectors.

Unless otherwise noted, all date ranges applied to this collection are approximations based on format and content.

Research material for publications; personal papers; and papers relating to Dr Murphy’s career at the University of Queensland, and his membership of the Australian Labor Party. Also research material, including handwritten manuscripts (including memoirs by Margaret Fisher), correspondence, notes, photographs, photocopied articles, and newspaper cuttings, for the biography of Andrew Fisher, which Dr Murphy was working on before his death. Includes W.H. Demaine's ‘Diary, written on the voyage to Maryborough, Queensland, Australia in the year 1880 on board the sailing ship Silver Eagle from Plymouth’.

Includes correspondence, incoming and outgoing, public speeches, letters to the press, election campaign material, press clippings; also material relating to Wilfred Adams Russell, chiefly biographical clippings, and election campaign material. A major correspondent was Colin R. Chapman, P.R. and Research Consultant, who was active in Charles Wilfred Russell's election campaigns, and also in the interests of the Australian Democratic Union, Basic Industries Group, Australian Growers' Wool Marketing Committee, and other pastoral and political groups. The collection includes some bulletins and handout material issued by such groups. Also papers relating to history of Jimbour House, and the Bell family.

This collections consists of Australian art exhibition ephemera which includes invitations, flyers and price list; Australian and European bookplates; and four framed artworks by Fred Leist, Lionel Lindsay, Percy Lindsay, and Rose Lindsay. There are over 1500 bookplates in this collection. Bookplate artists include Lionel Lindsay, D. H. Souter and Pixie O'Harris.

Thirteen diaries covering the years 1934-1945 and 1954, as well as photographs, newspaper and manuscript articles about the Elsey Station in the Northern Territory. Included is a photocopy of an article by Ernestine Hill entitled They of the Never Never. The photographs cover the years 1907-1946 and show the Giles family and staff, the engraved Banyan tree, Duke and Duchess of Gloucester's visit in 1946, and Aboriginal families living on the station. Also included is a Giles family tree and family correspondence.

Wilson, and card index of plans by plan numbers, job numbers, and client names. Includes several plans by Alfred Banks.
Also includes rare poster "Victoria Skating Rink, Sandgate". Includes plan of 'University site, St. Lucia. Proposed design', by R.W.J. Hawken, 1929.
Professor Hawken and Alexander Wilson were members of a committee established in 1921 to determine a site for the University of Queensland.
