Screenplay by Peter Carey and Bill Bennett. Based on a short story by Peter Carey. Clean and annotated copies of both 1st and 2nd drafts, dated May 1988 and 15 February 1989. Also copy marked: "as presented to producers" and some correspondence dated 1988-1989.

Notebooks

Carey maintained handwritten notebooks of ideas for his writings. Contained in this series are eleven of these notebooks. Some notebooks have general notes such as shopping lists, recipes, names and addresses, and lists that pertain to his personal life.

Notebook No. 6, July-August 1980.

Contains notes relating to Carey's novel 'Pets' (Illywhacker) and general notes, from 5 July 1981 to 24 August 1981. Several pages have been torn out.

Notebook No. 11, April-June 1982

Contains notes relating to works, including llywhacker and general notes, including a 2 page outline for the possible film 'Cyclone Tracy'. It covers the months April to June 1982. Also notes on Chinese people in Australia and details of house, finances etc.
