Notes, story outlines and fragments, some of which have titles. Includes typescripts with the titles: 'The Botticelli stories'; 'The ice room'; 'K.L. Story'; 'Story: body sellers'; and 'Notes on life in the whorehouse'. Typescript where first line begins: 'Claire Schnier lay in a bed in ward 5...'; 'She had a face like someone who has come out of a sad movie....'; 'He tried to write stories about the people he knew...'; '1. 'Gleniffer via Bellingen'

'Gleniffer via Bellingen' by Peter Carey describes the house he and Margot Hutchenson built in The Promised Land, about eight kilometres out of Bellingen. The house was designed by Richard Leplastier. There are two typescript drafts of the article, with emendations, which Carey appears to have written when selling the house. Both drafts are on yellow paper, 4 leaves, undated.

Three drafts of A small memorial, published in New Yorker on 25 September 1995 and Four easy pieces in 2002. Printout title from footer 'Revised Draft #1', printout date 22 May 1995, 16 leaves, plus one page of handwritten notes; Printout title from footer 'Author's corrected draft', 25 May 1995, 16 leaves, with handwritten emendations; Printout title from footer 'Corrected draft #2', 2 Jul 1995, 14 leaves. This is a memoir about his first wife's abortion and miscarriages.

One draft entitled 'A tourist in my own country', 10 leaves, with some handwritten emendations, printout footer title '#6', printout foot date 24 Oct 1994. One draft, 10 leaves, 8 Sep 1995, with handwritten emendations, and (word processing) change tracking.This is an account of a house rented by Peter Carey, his wife and two children at Port Douglas.
