'Gleniffer via Bellingen'

'Gleniffer via Bellingen' by Peter Carey describes the house he and Margot Hutchenson built in The Promised Land, about eight kilometres out of Bellingen. The house was designed by Richard Leplastier. There are two typescript drafts of the article, with emendations, which Carey appears to have written when selling the house. Both drafts are on yellow paper, 4 leaves, undated.

Incomplete drafts of The tax inspector

16 folders of typescript, with handwritten emendations, and printouts of Carey's computer directory listing files for sections and chapters of the novel. 1st - 12th drafts of the novel. Carey's labeling on the folders indicates that writing began on 3 Feb 1988. The 11th draft is dated 20 Nov 1990. Drafts have extensive handwritten emendations. Some of the 9th and 10th draft material includes extensive handwritten notes probably by Alison Summers.

12 pages of handwritten notes in an envelope with the note 'Our collective notes on structure'. (Index cards were also included in the envelope - see Item 16 in this series). Accompanied by 3 x A3 pages on handwritten notes on narration for the last part.
