Newspaper cuttings

Cuttings from various newspapers including The Argus, Sydney Morning Herald and the Daily Mail relating to Ian Macdonald, the Australian navy in WWI, HMAS Australia, HMS Hood, and the visit of the American fleet to Australia in 1925. There are several death notices for Ian Macdonald which appear to have been collected by his brother Alistair.

The latter part of the file relates to Michael White's enquiries as to the location of James Macdonald's grave and images of poppies placed on the grave each ANZAC Day.

Folder containing assorted personal papers of Alexander Rose Macdonald, including handwritten notes on North Queensland, newspaper cuttings relating to his career, correspondence, a sketch map of plantations and mills in Mackay dated 1887, reports on the Pacific Islanders' Fund and Hospitals dated 1888, copy will and 2 obituaries. One letter dated December 1903 appears to be a copy in the hand of Nancy Armitage.
