This collection includes : 'The Great Barrier Reef and its origins'; 'Great Barrier Reef investigations'; 2 photographs; handwritten notes entitled 'Great Barrier Reef : manuscript notes made during reading at Geological Survey Library, London 1935'; one folder entitled 'Chemical analyses of coralline material from bore at Michaelmas Cay' (includes graphs). There is a map of Great Barrier Reef ca. 1925, which hung in Richards' office; William Branwhite Clarke medal; Carnegie Corporation medal; and hammer belonging to Richards.

John R. Laverty was a Research Assistant for Professor Gordon Greenwood. In the early 1950s, Laverty produced these research summaries to facilitate Greenwoods work in writing the history of the first twenty years of the Brisbane Municipal Council and some aspects of Brisbane's early history. The two bound volumes were complied by Matthew Fuchs in 2004, and comprise photocopies of carbon copy typescript. Volume 1 contains: a survey of Council activities, evidences of city development, the growth of Brisbane city, animal nuisance issues, the Brisbane Bridge and water supply. Volume 2 contains more detailed information about the city such as cemeteries, ferries, Port of Brisbane, parks and recreation reserves, the Town Hall, roads, sewerage, street improvements and city transport.

Research material and notes for a Ph.D. thesis, An analysis of Brisbane society in the 1890's by Ronald Lynton Lawson. The thesis was submitted to the History Department of the University of Queensland in 1970. The thesis analyses the society of Brisbane in 1891 and 1901. In 1967 Lawson used a structured interview technique, with a 112 questions on many aspects of life, surveying people who were children or adolescents in the city of Brisbane in 1891 and 1901. Over a period of three months Lawson interview 75 people aged 79 years and over. Questions included: when did parents arrive in Australia; the sort of dwellings they lived in; if they had servants; family roles; employment; newspapers read; diet; where was the grocery shopping done; vehicles; education; religion. This file includes the questionnaires, notes and photographs.

Three diaries written by Allan Nash from 1909 to 1915. Diary of 1909 and first part of 1914, records Allan Nash's daily life as a teacher and working on the farm in Gympie, Queensland. Diary of 1914 (second part) records Allan Nash's enlistment and training with 2nd Australian Light Horse, and their departure from Brisbane and landing in Egypt. Diary of 1915 records their deployment from Egypt to Gallipoli, landing there on 12 May 1915, and events at Gallipoli up till Allan Nash's death on 29 June 1915. This diary includes a few personal papers, and card from Mrs A W Nash of thanks for sympathy in loss of Major Allan Nash.
