Leaflet explaining the occupation of the Professorial Board Room by about 50 students to protest against the University [of Queensland] doing research for CRA Limited [Conzinc Riotinto of Australia] and allowing it to recruit on campus. The fundraiser provides a programme of films to be shown on campus (University of Queensland) in the Relaxation Block from 20 October to 23 October. Undated. Black Rights Committee may have produced the flyer and organised the fundraiser.

North Queensland labour history presentations and interviews

Audio recordings of sessions at the North Queensland Labour History Conference held at the Australian Workers' Union Hall in Townsville, from 6 to 8 June 1987. The recorded sessions are: 'Opening address' by Margaret Reynolds; 'Progressive women in the North' with Carole Ferrier, Agnes Hall and Jim Henderson; 'Aborigines in North Queensland' with Geoff Warner (Chair), Joe McGinness, Tom Sullivan, Warren Bowden and Fred Thompson; 'Labour activists between the wars' with Warren Bowden and Jim Henderson; 'Labour after the war' with Jeff Wills and Fred Thompson; and 'Labour past and present' with Tom Bland, Warren Bowden, George Bliss, Laurie Crofton, Jim Henderson and Agnes Hall. This series also includes audio recordings of one-to-one interviews conducted by Paul Turnbull with Jim Henderson, Pat Clancy, Warren Bowden, Joe Flowers and William Alexander Travers, an interview by an unidentified woman with Agnes Hall, and recollections by George Bliss, Lou Elliot, Laurie Crofton and Warren Bowden.

Interviews with World War One Light Horse veterans

Recordings of interviews with World War One Light Horse veterans Ronald Ellwood and A.H. (Harry) Tones. The interview with Ellwood was conducted in Kingaroy by Paul Turnbull. Ellwood speaks about his enlistment and service in the 2nd Light Horse Regiment, and his return to civilian life in Queensland and the challenges of reintegration. The interview with Harry Tones was conducted in Townsville by Paul Turnbull and C. Edmondson. Tones recounts aspects of his military service in the 11th Light Horse 4th Brigade, and of his return to civilian life in North Queensland.

Lantern slides, 35mm slides, negatives, glass plate negatives, and indexes to slides. Also one box of 5 unexposed AGFA-Gevaert brand negatives. Wooden cabinet originally used to house lantern slides retained separately.

A combination of original and published sets of slides. Initially glass lantern slides, later additions were acquired in 35mm slide format with some lantern slides then reformatted. The collection also appears to include some slides obtained from other Departments.

In 1950, the St Lucia campus Parnell Building lecture theatres were designed specifically without windows to facilitate the use of slide projectors.

Unless otherwise noted, all date ranges applied to this collection are approximations based on format and content.

Wally Doe Photographs

Two hundred and twenty five photographs (mostly black and white photographs), eighteen real photo postcards, and four 35 mm negatives. These photographic images are mostly taken Papua New Guinea, mainly depicting Bulolo gold fields. Many of the photographs have been taken by Wally Doe or feature him (and his wife Billie). Handwritten identifying notes on the back of most photographs; some of these notes are by John Murphy.

Accompanied by one album, 14 x 20 cm, with 23 black and white photographs with a typescript note pasted to the front cover with information about what became of the dredges during the Second World War. These photographs have been attached to the pages using photo corners; it appears some may have been removed or lost at some time.
