This file comprises cuttings from and photocopies of newspapers and magazines reviewing Peter Carey's short story collection The fat man in history.

Photocopies of six published short stories. Stories are: Around the rugged rocks the ragged rascal ran (1973); Crabs (1972); The mad puzzle king (1973); Joe (1973); Life and death in the south side pavilion (1974); and Report on the shadow industry (1974).

The series includes professional correspondence with publishers, literary agents, film companies and cultural and literary organisations and other writers. There are also personal letters and letters from readers. Much of the correspondence relating to Carey's individual literary works can be found with those manuscripts, preserving Carey's own arrangement of the material.

'Gleniffer via Bellingen' by Peter Carey describes the house he and Margot Hutchenson built in The Promised Land, about eight kilometres out of Bellingen. The house was designed by Richard Leplastier. There are two typescript drafts of the article, with emendations, which Carey appears to have written when selling the house. Both drafts are on yellow paper, 4 leaves, undated.
