Most sketch books have not been fully used. Three have names of towns written on the cover and associated sketches: Bolonga/Venice ; Assisi; and Siena. One notebook has notes on motifs and newspaper cuttings inserted at the end. Another notes on dynamic symetry. Another, lined notebook, has notes on State Schools free education and at the other end of the notebook a list of letters to write and bills to pay for Jan 1956. Some have scales for sculptures such as 'Little black baby', 'S. Paterson', and 'Prof. Waterhouse'.
