Cast of a left hand

Cast of the left hand of an unidentified person, mostly likely a woman. Approximately 25 cm in length from wrist to tip of middle finger. All fingers have broken off.Thumb and index finger are whole, other fingers have broken into two pieces. Metal wire from the end of the hand is tied in a knot. Possbily the work of Daphne Mayo; found in the conservation unit in February 2001.

Portrait bust of Vida Lahey

Life sized portrait bust of Vida Lahey in plaster, painted brown. Lahey is wearing a tied scarf. Not signed or dated. Vida Lahey visited Mayo at her Sydney Studio in George Street in late 1957 when sittings were made.

Photograph of Daphne Mayo in the front row, with Norman Carter, Sydney Ure Smith, Robert Gordon Menzies (the Federal Attorney-General), Rayner Hoff, and John Eldershaw. In the back row are William Beckwith McInnes, Han Heysen, Robert Henderson Croll, Harold Brocklebank Herbert and William Rowell. Daphne Mayo Sydney Studio, volume 1

Daphne Mayo's Sydney Studio at 231 George Street was reclaimed by the Sydney Cove Development Authority in 1981. Queensland Trustees Limited, who had power of attorney for Mayo, engaged Judith McKay to direct the sorting and dispersal of the Sydney Studio from 29 June to 8 July 1981. Mayo had been a tenant of the building since 1940 and retained this studio after her move back to Brisbane. She was the last tenant to leave the building. This album is volume one of a two volume set of photograph albums complied by Judith McKay detailing the contents of the studio and the packing of contents. Photographs by Jacqueline Macnaughtan and Tim Collis-Bird.
