Three diaries handwritten by John Ernest Greenham. The diaries are primarily accounts of his 10 months of travel in 1895.

Volume one has the title on the first page of the diary: 'Impressions of a Colonial : to be read without criticism'. This diary is of his voyage from Ipswich to London via Colombo and Suez Canal aboard the H.M.S. Ophir, from 20 March to 7 May 1895. Records his impressions of the cities of Sydney, Melbourne, Hobart and Adelaide during the voyage. On cover on bound volume: Students notebook; 70 leaves ; 21 cm.

Volume two has the title on the first page of the diary: 'Another innocent very much abroad : not to be read critically'. This diary is of his travels from London to Naples. It is handwritten in a commercially produced bound notebook; 256 pages ; 23 cm.

Volume three has the title on the first page of the diary: 'Palestine - Naples (continued) and trip to Australia'; on the verso of this title page is: 'To be read without criticism'. This volume gives an account of his time spent in 'The Holy Land' 106 pages ; 25 cm. Inserted at hand numbered pages 54 and 55 is a small sheet of music notation, 16 x 24 cm, dated 25.11.08. Inserted between hand numbered pages 56 and 57 are: 1 pages with handwritten list of names; 1 pages, folded in half with handwriting; and an incomplete envelope addressed to Greenham. Between handwritten pages 60 to 106 there is a list of organ solos performed by Ernest between February 1902 and August 1916.
