Annual General Meetings

Three of the four folders of the Arts Council of Queensland (Queensland Division) Annual General Meetings. Not all years are represented. Each year may contain notice of meetings, agendas, draft minutes, minutes, reports, proforma proxy forms, and resolutions. Years represented are 1961/62, 1964 to 1966; 1967 to 1969; 1970 to 1975 and 1980 to 1984. The last folder contains correspondence, notes, minutes and notices relating to AGMs from 1962 to 1983

Constitutional and Incorporation Documents

As the new president of the Arts Council of Australia (Queensland Division), Gertrude Langer took an active role in shaping the direction of the Queensland Division. Part of this was to negotiate with the Arts Council of Australia (New South Wales Division) regarding the possibility of a Federal Arts Council with a Federal constitution. This negotiation consists of correspondence between Gertrude Langer and Gordon Horswell. The Arts Council of Australia (Queensland Division) drew up articles of association and there are five annotated drafts. The final result is a copy of the Constitution dated 31 December 1963. Drafts (typescript and handwritten) of the aims and objectives of the Arts Council of Australia (Queensland Division) are also included.

Six folders of correspondence from the Arts Council of Australia (Queensland Division) and its president Gertrude Langer. The last two folders contain general correspondence (incoming and outgoing), personal correspondence of Gertrude Langer, letters regarding staffing, notes and memoranda.

Early history of Queensland Arts Council

Original title on folder was "Early history of Qld. Arts Council (before my own involvement)". The file includes correspondence (incoming and outgoing), reports and notes of the Arts Council of Australia (Queensland Division ) prior to Gertrude Langer taking over the Presidency in early 1961 (at the suggestion of Dorothy Helmrich). The Queensland division reconstituted in late 1956/early 1957 with a Brisbane Branch and two country branches in Warwick and Gatton.

The file consists of the seven folders containing the administrative records for the office of the Arts Council of Australia (Queensland Division). These folders contain correspondence and papers relating to: the office and staffing (office plans, job applications, resignations, salaries, duties, office budget); Job applications for Secretary; grant applications (such as the "Country caps" scheme); memberships records (drives, membership lists, mailing lists); branch records (office contacts, members, QAC Branch Manual); circulars, press releases and newspaper cuttings; and conference and workshop papers (including financial information).
