Minute book for Advisory Art Committee

Minutes of meetings of the Advisory Art Committee of the Queensland National Art Gallery from 20 Mar 1931 to 4 May 1937. 93 pages of the 256 have handwritten minutes. Pasted onto pages 257-258 is a typescript copy of 'Rules and regulations for the Guidance of the Advisory Art Committee'

Daphne : Nov 1937 to Nov 1940

Daphne : Nov 1937 to Nov 1940 written on cover of All Schools exercise book. First page has name and address list including Daphne Mayo's address in Sydney and Fulham Road in London. Exercise book used as a ledger to record transactions for the rental property consisting of 3 flats, a cottage, studio and tennis court, associated expenses, money banked, names of the tennants, weekly rent. Some of these records can be attributed to her parents, mostly likely her father, Bill Mayo, as Daphne was in Europe in the late 1930s. From 14 August 1938 the cottage is rented to 'Mayo'. The Studio to rented to Vida from September 1938.

Dec 1942 to Sept 28 1946 written on cover of All Schools exercise book. First page has name and address list including Daphne Mayo's address at 231 George St, Sydney and a c/o Mrs Savery 'Montana' Cremorne Point. Exercise book used as a ledger to record transactions for the rental property consisting of 3 flats, and a cottage, associated expenses, money banked, weekly rent. Transactions are from 4 Dec 1942 to 30 Sep 1946.

Spiral notebook with Flats written on cover. Includes dimensions of rooms; lists on soft furnishings, things to get for flats, shopping lists, things to do. Only date in book is 22 Aug 1972.

July /69 to June /70

Ledger book with July /69 to June /70 on cover, inside cover has business cards pinned to it, first page with names and address. It records income received and expenses with notes. Towards end of book has income from investments; notes on making paper mache; notes on making a surf board. Final pages are notes about Vida Lahey comprising: list of Exhibitions with places and dates; publications lodged with Oxley Library; extracts from her [Vida Lahey] letters and manuscripts; list of exhibitions by V. Lahey.

Flats, 1932

Same ledger book for 1936 to 1937 recording income received and expenses for flats. Also contains notes on ancestors, information about property at Victoria Street, dividends for 1953-1954. At the end of the book lists capital cost of studio, land and flats (for 1933 to 1948, not inclusive), costs for repairs to studio and cottage, valuations, rates, details for house at Gray Road (West End) 10 Aug 1953, list of investments at 30 Oct 1953.

Handwritten draft of the biography of Vida Lahey by Daphne Mayo. This is a draft of an article written for the Society of Women Writers Of NSW Literary Competition, in 1969, by "Lilian MacArthur". Contains original pages from Quill Pen Carbon Book numbering 1-26.

Life sized portrait bust of Vida Lahey in plaster, painted brown. Lahey is wearing a tied scarf. Not signed or dated. Vida Lahey visited Mayo at her Sydney Studio in George Street in late 1957 when sittings were made.
