History

Painter, teacher, critic; born in Melbourne, died in Brisbane. President of the Queensland Art Society from 1923 to 1924 and wrote art critiques for the Brisbane Observer. His painting career was interrupted by Army Service from 1940 to 1944. In 1948 he was employed as an instructor in painting at the Brisbane Central Technical College. Awards include Godfrey Rivers Bequest Prize, 1935. His work includes portraits, landscapes & animal paintings moving between impressionistic and academic styles. In later years there was an increased emphasis on abstract qualities in his work.
