The Street Arts Theatre Company was founded in Brisbane in 1982. The founding members were Steve Capelin, Pauline Peel and Denis Peel, and the company's aim was to provide community based theatre Its original focus was on festivals and community events, but it then moved towards more formal productions. Performances were staged at venues including the Paint Factory in Brisbane and throughout Queensland. In 1997 the Company became the Arterial Group and changed its focus to multimedia.
