Administrative history

The objectives of the University of Queensland Aboriginal Land Rights Support Group was to support the activities of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples in connection with the Land Act Amendment Act (1982) and the Commonwealth Games and to involve sections of the white community in the struggle for land rights. Group may only have been active from 1982 to mid 1980s.

Advertises two events. The first is the Cultural revival festival held at the Roma Street Forum on 17 September. Speakers include Budger Davidson from the Black Protest Committee, Steve Mam from the National Aboriginal Conference, Bob Weatherall from the Foundation for Aboriginal and Islander Research Action and Bertie Button and Henry Collins from Cherbourg. Music includes Bapu Mamus, the Torres Strait Island Dance Group and Corroboree. The Second event is a rally and march held at King George Square on 26 September. Includes an excerpt from Back Nation (no. 1, August 1982). The item states 'University of Queensland Aboriginal Lands Rights Support Group'.
