University of Queensland Labor Club (1946-). Also known as the University of Queensland A.L.P. Club.
Objectives - To support social democratic principles and policies of reform that are a feature of the Australian Labor Party and other labor style parties. Emphasizes socialist policies while supporting mixed economy capitalism.

Notes: In 1964 the A.L.P. Club split over the issue of communist membership. This led to the formation of the Left Club (1964-1966). In 1969 the Labor Club was prominent in draft resistance through its University Conscription Committee. It became defunct in the early seventies and was revived in 1973 in response to the 1972 elections. It became defunct again but revived in 1977. It is not an affiliated body of the A.L.P.

Biographical history
Bruce Frederick Dickson, born 13 September 1948, attended the University of Queensland where he earned a Bachelor of Arts in 1975 and was also editor of the student newspaper Semper floreat. He was a filmmaker and political activist during the 1970s. He was the first undergraduate student elected a member of the University of Queensland Senate. He was President of the Labor Club from 1968 to 1969. Dickson is also a past friend of the late Oodgeroo Noonuccal.
