Seamen's Union of Australia (Queensland Branch) (1943-). Formerly the Seamen's Union of Australasia (1928-1943) and the Federated Seamen's Union of Australasia (1885-1928).

Notes: In 1872 Seamen's Unions began to be formed in the Australian colonies. All but the Melbourne Seamen's Union became defunct Sydney seamen formed a union in 1874 and with the Seamen's Union of Victoria formed a loose federation in 1876 known as the Federated Seamen's Union of Australasia. In 1906 it was formally organized as a federation. The port of Brisbane was organised originally as an agency of the Sydney Union. In 1885 it was recognised as an autonomous branch of the federation. It reverted to agency status after the 1890 maritime strike. It resumed branch status in 1900. The word "Federated" was dropped in 1928. The word "Australasia" was replaced by "Australia" in 1943.
