Australian League of Rights Queensland Council (1960-).
Objectives - To promote loyalty to the Christian concept of God and the Crown, and to the country as part of the British Commonwealth ; to advocate competitive individual enterprise; to defend private ownership; to expose government-by-regulation; to secure individual rights especially by defence of the Constitution; to defend the Rule of Law; to stress the value of the Common Law; to expose the destruction of rights and liberties; to emphasize the value of Legislative Councils and the Senate; to expose and oppose all anti-British propaganda and actions.
Notes: A League of Rights was formed in South Australia in 1946. In succeeding years they were formed in some other states, including a brief appearance in Brisbane in 1949. The Australian League of Rights was formed in 1960. It is associated with the Australian Heritage Society, Enterprise Queensland, Ladies in Line against Communism, the Save our State Campaign, the Christian Institute for Individual Freedom (all based in Queensland), the Conservative Speakers' Club and the Institute of Economic Democracy. It organises Voters' Policy Associations and through these it has worked as a pressure group within the National Party. With the Leagues of Rights in New Zealand, Britain and Canada it forms the Crown Commonwealth League of Rights which is part of the World Anti-Communist League.
