Administrative history

The Hiroshima Day Committee organises events throughout Australia to commemorate the lives lost to the atomic bombs dropped on the Japanese cities of Hiroshima and Nagasaki on the 6 and 9 August 1945 respectively. The committee strives towards the global abolishment of nuclear weapons. They hold a zero-tolerance stance towards nuclear weapons and argue for the Australian Government to ratify the UN treaty to ban them. The committee's first rally and march was held in Sydney on 9 August 1962.
