Australian Women against Rape (AWAR) (1976- ).
Objectives - AWAR demands that, in hearings of rape charges, previous sexual history be inadmissable as evidence and that corroboration requirements be dropped; the recognition of rape within marriage; that the definition of rape be extended to include oral and anal penetration and the use of foreign objects. Apart from seeking these reforms AWAR attempts to change the community attitudes behind rape. Note: Has been in recess at times.
