The Fabian Society of Queensland had its origins in the Fabian Society founded in London in 1884 by Bernard Shaw and Sydney Webb. The society was dedicated to promoting socialist theory In Australia, the first Fabian Society was established in 1891 in South Australia. The Melbourne Fabian Society was established in 1895. The Fabian Society of Queensland was formed in 1955. Its President was Joe Harris. The Queensland Fabian Society is a branch of the Australian Fabian Society.
