Administrative history

Democratic Labor Party (1962-1977). Previously the Queensland Labor Party (1957-1962).
Objectives - The pursuit of social justice, the decentralisation of political and economic power and the freedom of parliaments from sectional control. The D.L.P. also sought a strong defence force and was implacably opposed to communism.
Publicists - Refer to Reynolds, Paul L. "The Democratic Labor Party" Rigby, Australia, 1974.
Notes: The Queensland Labor Party became the state branch of the D.L.P. in 1962. However the Q.L.P. label was retained for the two elections of 1963 and 1966. The D.L.P. had close ties with the National Civic Council. The federal party was dissolved in 1977 but a group continued in Victoria. The DLP re-emerged in 2010.
