Administrative history
Located at 167 Queen Street, Brisbane, the theatre was built in 1929 to accommodate either live performances or motion pictures by Hoyts, including an hydraulically raised Wurlitzer organ. It was redeveloped in the 1970s to house four separate cinemas, only the building's facade and entrance lobby have been maintained. The collection includes several issues of "Hoyts Screen Pictorial" & "Hoyts Regent Magazine" from 1929-1943. The organ was later relocated to the Gallery of Modern Art, Brisbane. The venue was finally closed in June 2010, for redevelopment.
