Located at 177-181 Queen Street, Brisbane, the theatre was built by the Greater Union Group as a silent movie house, then as a talkie cinema with occassional live acts up until the mid 1930s. The theatre was remodelled in 1952 and reopened as the Odeon, before being demolished in the redevelopment of Queen Street.

Fryer Library holdings includes issues of "The Majestic Magazine and Movie news","The Majestic Magnet" and "The Majestic News" from the 1920s. Featured performances include: "Romance of the Apes" featuring Jacko, the Super-Monkey ; Alice Brady in "Red Head" ; Louise Glaum in "The Lone Wolf's Daughter" ; Sessue Hayakawa in "The Typhoon" ; Douglas Fairbanks in "Robin Hood" and many more.
