Administrative history
The Brisbane Repertory Theatre was formed in 1925, by Barbara Sisley and J.J. Stable. In 1933 it was incorporated to become the Brisbane Repertory Theatre. In the 1940s to 1960s, its most used venue was the Albert Hall. In 1972 it opened La Boite, Brisbane's first theatre-in-the-round. The Brisbane Repertory Theatre has since been popularly known as La Boite. In 1993, the Company turned professional and changed its name to La Boite Theatre.
