Administrative history
Ipswich Little Theatre is a community organisation, which has been presenting live theatre to Ipswich audiences continuously since 1946. Since 1969 their charter has been to not only present high quality theatre for adults and children, but also maintain the unique and historic Walter Burley Griffin Incinerator Theatre, which is leased from the Ipswich City Council. They continually maintain and improve their facilities for the benefit of their members and the public. A very popular venture with groups from around south-east Queensland has been conducting tours of the Incinerator including a short play and lunch in the theatre courtyard. They also stage the longest running one act play festival in the southern hemisphere.
