Administrative history
Located on the corner of Albert and Charlotte Streets, Brisbane, originally known as Brisbane Stadium it was built in 1910 and primarily used as a sports arena. Rebuilt in 1959 it became a popular music venue which hosted artists such as The Beatles in 1964, Peter, Paul and Mary in 1968, Liberace, Nureyev, Shirley Bassey and many other head-line popular performers. It was demolished in 2003 to make way for an appartment building known as Festival Towers on the same site.
