Biographical history
Annie Margaret Roe, known as Madge Roe, was the second daughter of Annie Maud Roe (nee Whish) and Reginald Heber Roe. She was born on 29 November 1891. In 1932 she printed and illustrated A back-answer, and her brother, Arthur Stanley Roe (also known as Dr Stan Roe), composed the poetry. In 1937 she wrote a poem Brisbane with an illustration, again by her, of the city of Brisbane as a map of the river. This was privately printed and given by her to friends. There are two versions of the illustration of Brisbane held in the Fryer Library; one of the versions has a tissue paper overlay with the names of sites printed to match the landmarks on the illustration. She died, after a short illness, on 11 February 1938.
