Graduate of University of Queensland (B. Arch 1978). Worked with Alexander (Ian) Ferrier from 1978-1979, then Bligh Jessup Bretnall and later Conrad Gargett (1979-1981) where she was involved with the restoration of the Queensland Parliament House in the Brisbane CBD. The heritage work encouraged Gardiner to pursue conservation and she left Brisbane to study in the United Kingdom at the University of York. She returned to Australia in 1981, and worked with Richard Allom and Peter Marquis-Kyle on the conservation plan for Brisbane’s Old Museum Building and with Ian Sinnamon on the conservation of the Glengallan Homestead. In 1990, Fiona returned to the Public Works Department in the Historic Building section where she develops heritage legislation and consults on the management significant heritage sites. Fiona Gardiner is now Principal Heritage Research Officer in the Queensland Environmental Protection Agency. (Excerpted from Digital Archive of Queensland Architecture)

Biographical history
Born 5 September 1928 in New York, Ian Alexander Ferrier immigrated to Australia in 1953 and began working for Donoghue, Cusick and Edwards in Brisbane in 1955. He founded his own practice in 1957, which eventually became known as Ferrier Baudet when his daughter and son-in-law joined him. Ferrier was best known for his churches, schools, and convents throughout Queensland. He died in 2000.
