Biographical history

Francis Lister Hopkins was born on 31 October 1878. He taught elocution and acted in amateur dramatics under the name F. Lister Hopkins and moved to Toowoomba in about 1908. He was also a professional jeweler and watchmaker. He was an Alderman with the Toowoomba City Council. He died on 1 March 1926.

Two postcards (called canvassing cards in the handwritten biographical note) for Francis Lister Hopkins announcing his move from Sydney to Toowoomba.

One card has an oval shaped black and white portrait picture of Mr. F. Lister Hopkins "Elocutionist (from the studio of Mr. Lawrence Campbell, Sydney), who will be settling in Toowoomba shortly".

The second card has an oval shaped black and white picture with the word "Comedy" directly underneath and beneath that "Photo of a new artist who will be settling in Toowoomba shortly More Anon."

The cards are accompanied by biographical notes (2 pages) by his granddaughter, Ellen Jordan.
