Scope and content

Two photographs of Paul Robeson with groups of people (b&w), two newspaper cuttings from the Courier Mail (15 Oct 1960, and his obituary on Jan 26, 1976), and 1960 Australian tour programme signed by Paul Robeson and Eslanda Robeson.

Paul Robeson and his wife Eslanda visited Brisbane in October 1960. He sang at a concert at Festival Hall on Saturday, October 15 and they both attended some functions in Brisbane during their short stay. The autographed programme was obtained at a private reception at the home of Mrs Ivy Scott (pictured in the garden party photograph) at New Farm. The second photograph shows Paul Robeson signing autographs at the airport for fans, including Margaret Macdonald, her father Alex Macdonald (Trades and Labor Council Secretary) and Barbara Bacon.
