Biographical history
Born in England, Percy Fritz Rowland was headmaster of Townsville Grammar School, Queensland, from 1905 to 1938. In 1903 he wrote a book on Australia's federation "The new nation" and in 1909 he published "State secondary education in Queensland" as well as contributing to "Meanjin" and various newspapers -- from "Australian dictionary of biography" vol 11.

The majority of newspaper cuttings in the album is from the column "Essays in brief" written by "P.F.R." published in the "Townsville daily bulletin" and in "The North Queensland register" during the 1930s.
