Biographical history
George Eaton was born on 8 November 1886 at Govan, Glasgow, third child of William Eaton and his wife Isabella, nee Walker. By 1889 the family had all migrated to Brisbane, Queensland. After attending the West End Boys' School he went on to become a teacher. In the First World War, he enlisted in the Australian Imperial Force in 1915. Upon his return in 1920 he returned to teaching. He retired on 31 December 1952. Eaton was part of the Brisbane Repertory Society and in 1929 a course in dramatic art was introduced to the Workers' Education Association of Queensland with Eaton as the tutor. He produced and acted in plays for the Workers' Education Association (WEA) Dramatic Society from 1929 to 1941. . He died on 8 August 1954.
