John Gladstone Steele, B.Sc, PhD., ThL., A.A.I.P., A.S.I.A., was a priest of the Anglican Church and a physicist at the University of Queensland, serving as Senior Lecturer in the Physics Department from 1968 until 1995. The combination of his interests in bushwalking, botany, and the Australian aborigines enabled him to retrace the patterns of exploration and history in south-east Queensland and have resulted in a number of publications.
