Biographical history

Journalist and poet, born in Ararat, Victoria. Moved to Brisbane circa 1932, wrote for Australia, and the Brisbane Catholic Advocate. Contemporary of James Picot, Brian Vrepont, Martin Haley, Frank Francis and James Devaney. He published several volumes of poety. He died in 1975 and bequeathed his body to the medical faculty of the University of Queensland.

Cecil Hadgraft was a senior lecturer and reader in the English Department at the University of Queensland. He was a prominent Australian literary critic and historian.
