'Crush Kerr's Coup' T-shirt and 'Hecate' T-shirt
Two T-shirts worn by Carmel Shute, a tutor in External Students at the University of Queensland in 1975.
'Crush Kerr's Coup' T-shirt, white t-shirt fabric, 62 cm in length: T-shirt made as part of the University of Queensland staff and student campaign against the dismissal of the Whitlam Government (perhaps by the Aunty Shadbolt Spirit of Liberty newspaper collective) in November 1975. On the front of the T-shirt, in blue capital letters is "Crush Kerr's Coup" and on the back of the T-Shirt in red capital letters is "Save Democracy Vote Labor". From the typescript leaf, Carmel Shute wrote "I wore the Crush Kerr's Coup t-shirt on the day of the Federal Elections in December 1975..."
'Hecate' T-shirt, mauve t-shirt fabric, 56 cm in length: T-shirt made to celebrate the first issue of the journal Hecate in January 1975. On the front of the T-shirt, in black capital letters is "Hecate" with an image (most likely from the first issue of the journal).
