History
Patricia Devanny born on 5 November 1913 at Puponga, New Zealand was the daughter of Francis Harold Devanny, miner, and his wife Jean, née Crook, both New Zealand born. The family emigrated to Sydney in 1929. She married Ronald William Jackson Hurd. She was a political activist, women's activist, indigenous activist/support, communist, member of the Australian Labour Party. She died 5 December 1980 in Townsville, Queensland.
