History

Frederick Benjamin Carlin, the son of William and Betsey Carlin (nee Quinton), was a vintner employed by William Brooke of Westminster. He married Brooke's daughter Sarah Brooke in ca. 1846. The Carlins emigrated to Australia and set up as storekeepers in Port Lincoln, South Australia in ca. 1849. One of their daughters was Ethel Maud 'Nettie' Carlin (1868 - ?).
