History

The Brisbane Three were Denis Walker, Lionel Fogarty (Lionel Lacey) and Juan Jose (John) Garcia. They were arrested in 1974 and charged with various offences related to menacing and conspiracy, including an alleged plot to 'kidnap' student union President James (Jim) Varghese at the University of Queensland. In 1975 the three were charged with intention to extort. The Brisbane Three campaign became national and ended with all charges dropped and the case thrown out.
